Pioneering a Low-Carbon Future for Construction Low Carbon Materials (LCM) is a pioneering climate tech company at the forefront of reducing carbon emissions within the construction industry. It achieves this by developing innovative, next-generation materials. Introducing ACLA®: A Carbon-Negative Aggregate for Net Zero Asphalt ACLA® is our revolutionary carbon-negative additive, specifically engineered to significantly lower the carbon footprint of asphalt. As an engineered carbon dioxide removal solution, ACLA® offers a permanence of over 100 years, locking away CO₂ permanently. Each tonne of ACLA® permanently removes 798 kg of CO₂e from the atmosphere. This is confirmed by ACLA®'s Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), which verifies a GWP-TOTAL (A1-A3) of -798 kg CO₂e per tonne. This cradle-to-gate value accounts for all carbon emissions and benefits associated with raw material sourcing and ACLA® production. The Challenge and Opportunity: Decarbonising UK Asphalt The UK's annual production of 25 million tonnes of asphalt currently generates an estimated 1.25 million tonnes of CO₂e. To decarbonise this sector, approximately 1.5 million tonnes of ACLA® would be required annually. This highlights the urgent need to rapidly scale ACLA® production to realise its significant environmental potential. Contribution Carbon Credits: Fuelling the Solution For every tonne of carbon removed through the production of ACLA®, LCM can generate a carbon credit that can be used as a contribution to scale. It's important to understand that contribution carbon credits differ from traditional offsets. They are not intended to be used by buyers to claim a reduction in their own emissions or to assert carbon neutrality for their operations. Instead, purchasing contribution carbon credits primarily provides vital financial support for impactful climate action projects like ACLA®. The carbon credit verification for ACLA®, utilising a methodology published by Riverse, is in its final stages of review and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. How Your Contribution Accelerates Impact: Purchasing these contribution carbon credits directly fuels the scaling of ACLA® by: •Scaling Production: Enabling investment in expanding our manufacturing capabilities for this carbon-negative aggregate. • Driving Adoption: As production scales and technology advances, the cost of ACLA® will decrease through economies of scale and increased efficiency. This will make sustainable alternatives like ACLA® more competitive with traditional, carbon-intensive materials. • Accelerating Scale-Up: Support for the project accelerates the scale-up of the solution, allowing for more removals to occur over the next vital decade.
